Here is our first Club’s update of the year.

It has been decided to retire ‘Baccy’ as, although he remains extremely well in himself, it was becoming difficult to keep him sound enough to run.
He has been a really good servant to the yard and to the Club and over the years served his previous trainers and owners well. He ran in 76 races in total, winning 11 times and being placed in 32. I felt he deserved a well-earned retirement and had been giving this some thought for a while and then the ideal retirement home came up for him. He has gone to live at Dunley House, Bovey Tracey with Judge Gilbert and his wife and will be keeping another horse that they have company. He may do a little light hacking, but will be living a life of luxury and during the summer as the Gilberts open their gardens to the public, I’m sure you’ll be able to visit him should you wish.

Archie has temporally come out of training as he usually does at this time of year for his annual foray in to a couple of point to points – this seems to keep the old boy happy before hopefully returning to run at his favourite Newton Abbot during the summer.

Gilly Grace is fine after her disappointing run at Taunton and I’m looking for a race over a longer distance for her while MONET MOOR is again back in full training and keeping everything crossed I hope to find her a race shortly.

Regards to you all,
